Re: Club House Project
My apologies for not updating sooner - we have been busy! As most of you know, the club house renovations have been moving right along. Although we don't have a final completion date, we don't see construction going too far into August.
Along with the club house construction, we are planning to make improvements to the parking lot which will include a new overflow lot near the fourth tee. With the kitchen and the additional parking, we will be able to set up a very nice tent to handle events for up to 100-150 people in the busy season:

I hope to be able to post photos of the constuction shortly.
Re: Club House Project
We have gone full circle again.

Re: Member login issues...
We've put a complete hold on the Members area until GHIN is up and running. From there we will restart the member's area by incorporating the GHIN ID in some fashion.
Member login issues...
We've once again 'tweaked' the new member login page and it appears to be functional. Make sure to hit the refresh button on your browser.
Again, our apologies.
Golf and health studies...
Recent studies show the health benefits of golf. Quoting the letter from the editor-in-chief in the February 2009 issue of "Golf Business Magazine":
"Two recent studies prove that not only is golf a sport, but it also has measurable health benefits. The first, which was published in the 'Scandinavian Journal of Medicine and Science in Sports', shows that the death rate for golfers in Sweden is 40 percent lower than for other people of the same sex, age and socioeconomic status. It also indicates a corresponding five-year increase in life expectancy for those who play regularly, particularly those who have the lowest golf handicaps.
More recently, Neil Wolkodoff, director of the Rose Center for Health and Sports Sciences in Denver, Colorado, performed a series of tests on volunteers between the ages of 26 and 61, and with handicaps ranging from 2 to 17. His data revealed that subjects, over the course of nine holes, burned 721 calories walking with their clubs on their shoulder, 718 using a pull cart, 613 using a caddie and 411 riding in a golf car. It also showed that golfers who walked logged 2.5 miles over the nine holes, while those who rode tallied a half-mile on foot."
Some good info, thanks Ronnie Musselwhite
